More pants

Just quickly 2 more sewing FOs, info on patterns etc as always on my Flickr Set.

Fresh start

It’s the pattern grading and the trying to stay away from new design ideas that makes me want to knit something mindless. Every time. So, I went back to my Drops Cotton Cardigan I started a while ago, but I just didn’t feel the love anymore, the color, everything seemed kind of blah… It’s interesting how easily I frog something nowadays, a couple of years ago, I hated doing it. It felt so said, to have wasted the time for nothing. Now, I just feel liberated and free to start something new.
So… What’s the new project? A bunch of baby socks. I don’t know how many I’ll be able to crank out, but unless I get bored, I’ll keep going. There will be a number of new babies around me in the next couple of months and I don’t want them to get cold feet.

Let’s blame it on the hormones…

I don’t know if it’s the hormones or the weather, but all I want to do is sleep, read, do some sewing and sleep some more. I can’t even bring myself to write a decent blog post. As soon as I am done with this one here, I’ll be breaking down this pattern I have to size and write into tiny baby steps, so it’ll look a little less daunting than it does now. For now, I’ll leave you with some more sewing, check out my Sewing Set on Flickr for more as well as notes on what I did.

Another Sneak Peak

I am done with another big magazine project. Well, done in the sense that I have finished the garment and the pattern in one size. I still have to size it and consolidate all that into one polished pattern. I prefer it when I have the time to make the sample and size the pattern at the same time, but in most cases, I have to quickly finish it to ship it off to wherever and I have a little more time to finish the pattern.
Ideally, I should not touch any yarn/needles/hooks until the end of the month and concentrate on this pattern, another one that has to be written almost from scratch (the sweater is already done) and then, if I still have time, get started on writing patterns for projects I don’t have the yarn yet or finally get round to start translating some of my patterns (it’s been on my to do list for ages).
But will I resist? Could you?

Tissu et crêpes

Yesterday we spent a wonderful couple of hours in Paris and some less wonderful hours in the car to get there, get around and get back home. Every time I go to the city by car I immediately want to move to Brittany. Anyway, while husband and daughter explored the area of Montmartre I went fabric shopping. The excursion ended with a meal of yummy crêpes.

Sneak Peak

Phew, one deadline project off the list. Here’s a little sneak peak, it’s for a Fall magazine.

Another Meg

This is another take on the “Meg” pattern from Citronille. Longer, still no sleeves. I took out 6 cm left and right from the back as well as the front. It’s still not a perfect fit, this is really difficult with woven fabric, isn’t it? Anyway, only practice will get me any further. We’ll see what’s next….

Sewing Queue

I have started to collect a bunch of stuff I want to sew, I am slowly going from one project to the next, learning a little bit every time. Because there is no Ravelry for sewing, I’ll just list my “queue” here. Never more than 10 items on the list, though, or else it’ll get too overwhelming. Here is what I have so far:

1. Pillow cases for son – no pattern – fabric in stash
2. Bedcover for daughter – no pattern – fabric in stash
3. “Pajamas for everyone” for me – pattern in “Weekend sewing” by Heather Ross – have fabric in stash, although not a very soft one, but I want to try them in some fabric I already have first
4. pants for daughter – probably from “Intemporels pour enfants” by Astrid Le Provost – need to buy fabric
5. same for son – need to buy fabric
6. A wallet like this one - pattern available on Etsy - using fabric scraps I already have
7. Make something using Knit fabric. I know this is supposed to be quite difficult, but I’ll have to see for myself.

Houston, we have a fit problem

Ok, my new Cecilia is all done. Maybe you remember that the first one, the one for Yarn Forward Magazine, was too small for me, so I couldn’t make any good pictures. The second one, I made to my size. But now it’s done, it doesn’t fit. What’s the problem? Gauge? Math? No, none of those, the cardigan is just fine. It’s me. I put on an outrages amount of weight, especially this past month, and now the cardigan and me…. welll… judge for yourself.
I will have to photograph it on my dress form for the pattern (which will be available soon) and maybe add more pictures later.
