Sewing in July

Here’s what’s been produced since I last posted about my sewing. A skirt for myself from Clothkits and a pair of last-minutes shorts for the 3.5y old. There won’t be any sewing in August, but I’ll get back to it in September for sure.

Sewing Challenge Update

I’ve been thinking long and hard about opening another blog for the sewing. But in the end, I have to be realistic and tell myself that right now I just don’t have the time for it. But I feel the sewing has no real place here either. So for the time being, I’ll stick to sort of a compromise which is occasional updates about what and how I am doing. How about a monthly post?
I am glad to report that the sewing challenge is the only challenge I am not behind on. I have made 31 “things” and this is week 28. I will certainly fall behind a little bit over the summer holidays, but I don’t think that’s a big problem. Some recent pics:

Back soon

I’ll be back very soon; I know it’s been long. A sneak peak of what I am working on at the moment:

Very quick FO Post

I wish I had time to blog, but….. I don’t. So, without any explication, look at what I’ve finished recently:

I made sleeves!

A couple of weeks ago my absolute favorite crochet designer, Robyn Chachula, wrote this nice blog post about me. Needles to say that I went bright red reading this. I, too, wish I had a time machine and be able to design more. However, this is not possible, and I just have to manage the time I have, like everyone else. Obviously it’s not at all helping that I am all about sewing at the moment. But that might change next week or next month. I just can’t do it all, which is totally ok.
I just came home from my very first sewing lesson and I just might, one of these days, make something for myself, we’ll see…
For the time being I am quite proud that I managed to sew something with sleeves!

Ah, yes, and just in case you were wondering, the Ravelympics? Didn’t make it. At all.

Pattern: Albertine from Citronille, size 4 years on my 3 year old. It’s a bit big, but I like it.

Too many WIPs

There’s a point at which I feel I have too much going on, WIP wise. And at that point, I feel like I really must finish a couple of things because they are weighing me down. Now is such a moment.

What do I have going on?
- First of all, the first sweater of the year is still not finished, should have been finished at the end of January if I had kept my goal of finishing a sweater by the end of each month. This is part of International Sweater-a-Month Dodecathon .
- 2 secret projects for next Xmas. If you’re on Ravelry, the projects are up on my page, but no pictures will be added before they are gifted.
- A little dress I am making for another fun group I found on Ravelry:Project Yarnway.
- 2 sewn dresses, one awaiting buttons (which I forgot to order) and one awaiting a zipper (which I ordered, but now I have to learn how to put it in).
- A little sewn tunic that’s cut out which I need to sew and put an appliqué on.
- 2 design UFOs which I really should get done at some point.
- Oh, and yes, another cardigan I started, worked a couple of rows on, and put aside for no other reason as that there are too many other things I want to work on.
- And then there are the Ravelympics, starting tomorrow. I had planned to participate. But now, I kind of didn’t have the time to check in what way that participation works (tags, events, …. don’t really understand all that.). I will watch and knit and crochet anyway, though.
- Ah! And the pattern I should already have sent to an editor… It isn’t even all that complicated, I just have to do it.
Now, the only question is: what gets finished first?

A couple of things….

Somehow I am not in Blog-mood at the moment. But here are a couple of links and pictures I wanted to share.

Link to all the patterns donating to charities for Haiti on Ravelry. I put mine up there, too, and bought a bunch for myself (startitis is in the air).

Ysolda’s Blog Post about the whole thing.

YIP, the knitterly and crafty types, a Flickr group in which I am participating this year.

And some stuff I’ve been working on:
