New pattern

Still not feeling the blog love at the moment, still too tired to come up with any ideas. But, today, I have something to share. I finally finished editing this little hat pattern and it’s now up for free on Ravely.

A couple of things….

Somehow I am not in Blog-mood at the moment. But here are a couple of links and pictures I wanted to share.

Link to all the patterns donating to charities for Haiti on Ravelry. I put mine up there, too, and bought a bunch for myself (startitis is in the air).

Ysolda’s Blog Post about the whole thing.

YIP, the knitterly and crafty types, a Flickr group in which I am participating this year.

And some stuff I’ve been working on:

2009 designs

All designs published in 2009 can be found in this Flickr set. My favorites in this category:

Samira from Inside Crochet issue 5

I am planning on making one for myself, possibly a cardigan version in 2010 and release the pattern myself as well.

The one that’s getting the most wear is definitely the Omaha Beach Sweater.

I am making another one right now, working out the pattern which will hopefully be published early next year.

2010 will probably bring a little less in terms of new designs, although you never know when inspiration strikes. But I do want to fill up my wardrobe and that of my family a little bit, and working from existing patterns does get the job done a lot faster. Plus there are so many lovely patterns out there, especially in knitting I might say, I’ll probably still end up designing some crochet ones. But I am not setting any specific goals for next year. I’ll just see what comes along. I am not submitting as much as before because I really don’t want to be too stressed out about working towards deadlines, parcels to be send oversees, pattern errors etc etc, not unless I’ve really adjusted to the 3kids thing (how come 3 are so much more work than 2, by the way?).

Oh, one thing I’d like to do though is finally learn to write my patterns in German and French, too. Or at least find someone to help me.

Spring Fever Mittens

The Interweave Crochet Preview is up and has some amazing sweaters in it. Myself, I only have a pair of mittens in it. But I might have to add one or two of those sweaters to my queue.

ERRATA for Apple Cider Mittens

I’ve just put up errata for my Apple Cider Mittens. There’s an increase missing in round 8 which is the most important problem. The rest wouldn’t keep you from getting it right, they are fairly obvious mistakes.

Cuff
Rnd 10: ….. 5 groups of 5dc, 1 sc. (Not 5 sc).
Hand
Rnd 1: … ch 1, sc around bottom edge of foundation round (NOT: sc blo around, there are no back loops there)
Rnd 8 is missing an increase: …. Ending with 1 sc blo in next sc and 2 sc in last st. – 47 sts.
Consequently there’s the same problem in rnd 12 which repeats rnd 8.

Inside Crochet 5 Preview

I haven’t had much to say about new designs recently, have I? So, I am especially happy that Inside Crochet has just put up preview pictures of their next issue on Flickr. I designed a cabled sweater, which by the way I am really proud of. I should make one for myself.

Design Process Part 4

Do you still remember my design process posts? You can read them here, here and here.

What happened next? Well, I kind of got lazy, then had a baby, then didn’t find the time to concentrate on anything more complicated than a simple pair of socks, then got sidetracked by other stuff, then got lazy again….

This is NOT the way to do it. The longer I put a design aside, the more difficult it is to get back to it. There’s a big risk of falling out of love with it altogether. So it was time to pick this up again before it ended on the design-UFO pile.

I did not work on pattern writing, sizing or sorting out details. For now I just crocheted the back piece. I still have to decide on how to handle the front neckline and the sleeves.
But for now, here’s the back blocking. Next, I’ll have to work on the fronts, chart it all out (at least in the size I am making) before I can get the hook out again. I’ll keep you posted.

Appe Cider Mittens

The Interweave Crochet Fall Preview is up. For the first time, I have not a garment, but an accessory in it, the Apple Cider Mittens.
Here’s a picture I took before sending them off:

Kerchief Bibs

I edited my Kerchief Bib pattern that was, so far, only available on my old blog in a very “so here’s what I did” kind of way. Now I’ve made it into a real pattern pdf on Ravelry, kind of as a learning experience for writing knitting patterns. Here’s the link to download the free pdf on Ravelry:

I also made up another 3 bibs for the occasion.

German and French versions are coming soon, too.

Finally… Cecilia!

Finally, the Cecilia Cardigan, originally published in Yarn Forward Summer 2008, is also available as a Ravelry Download or directly here on the Blog (you don’t have to be a Ravelry member to purchase the pattern).

You can see more pics on Flickr.
